Recipes (Post 42)

Here are a few recipes to add to your ten cent crazy book. Remember I am not now and will never claim to be a cook.

Cinnamon Rolls

1/2 and oz of dried yeast (2 envelopes)
1/2 cup warm water
3/4 cup plus 3 tablespoons milk
7 tablespoons melted butter
3/4 cups sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon salt
4 to 4 and a half cups flour
1 cup light brown sugar
2 tablespoons cinnamon
3/4 cup raisins (optional)
2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla

Combine yeast and warm water - set aside ten minutes Warm 3/4 cup of milk and add 4 tablespoons butter- stir in yeast mixture, 1/2 cup sugar and egg.

Add 4 cups of flour -1/2 a cup at a time, if sticky add in extra 1/2 cup flour Knead dough on floured service for 5 minutes-put in bowl and cover for 1 hour Roll out dough to 12x24 and brush with 3 tablespoons of butter Mix together - brown sugar, 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle on dough Roll dough and cut into 21, 1 inch slices Use 3 round pans - spray with oil - put 7 rolls in each pan - let sit for 45 minutes in pans Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes Mix powdered sugar, vanilla and 3 tablespoons of milk and drizzle over top of rolls.

Bacon and Apple Sandwiches

Mustard
Bacon
Green Apples
Cheddar Cheese
Bread

Cook Bacon
Toast bread
Spread mustard on toast
Add cheese
Add bacon
Add thinly sliced apple
Add more cheese and press on top toast

Impossible Pie

Mix
4 eggs
1 stick of butter
1/2 cup flour
1 cup coconut
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup sugar
2 cups milk

Pour into greased 9 inch pie pan
Bake at 350 degrees until golden brown
Requires no crust - taste like egg, coconut custard ______________________________________________________________________

Overnight Cookies

4 egg whites
1 and a half cups of sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups chopped nuts
1 bag chocolate chips

Beat egg whites until stiff
Add sugar slowly
Mix in everything else

Preheat oven at 350 degrees

Cover cookie sheets with foil and drop mix in teaspoons onto foil Now TURN OFF THE OVEN and put in cookies and let sit in oven overnight Best cookies ever!!

Frito Pie Casserole

2 pounds ground beef
1 onion
1 pkg taco seasoning mix
8 oz chunky salsa
4 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 large bag Fritos (small size chips)
1 can pinto beans
1/2 cup of water

Cook onion and ground beef (drain grease) add taco seasoning mix, salsa, beans and water to beef in large baking dish put half the Fritos followed by half the meat mixture, top with half of the cheese (repeat) Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes
