A Few Beauty Tips (Post 44)

If you want to start your own ten cent crazy book - read post 1-4 to find out how

Vaseline

Over age we develop wrinkles, these wrinkles are caused by the drying out of our skin. While wrinkles and age may also represent wisdom, most would like to keep these wrinkles to as few as possible. Now you can buy expensive creams, which may work well, but if its moisture you want to put back into your skin, try plain Vaseline. Rub Vaseline onto your face, hands, elbows and knees, before your next shower. The pours of your skin, will take in the moisture, and no matter how much you scrub and wash during your shower, your skin will love you for renewing its youth.

Lips

The next time you apply lipstick, apply a brush of blush on top of it. Your lipstick will stay on longer

Eyes

Before applying eye shadow put some chap stick on your eye lids, your eye shadow will stay on longer

Wishes (Post 38)

If you want to start a ten cent crazy book - read post 1-4 to find out how

Ok, let's talk about the "Wish" list, in your ten cent crazy book.

A wish list should be a list of things that are not material things.

Your list might look like:

Peace on Earth

I wish I were __________(fill in the blank)-smarter, prettier, taller, thinner, friendlier

I wish I had ___________(again fill in the blank)- more friends, less friends, a better job, less responsibility in my life, a boyfriend, a girlfriend

I wish I were more in control of______________(fill in the blank)

I wish my family were_____________________

I wish I could change my__________________

Anyway, you get the idea.

The point is to think about these things.

You should picture in your mind the perfect life.

Not to give you more stress, but to help with the stress, and to realize that some things we can change and others we can’t.

Ok, why make a wish list.

When you make a wish list and look at it over and over, your brain seems to help you deal with things and gives you ways to cope. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but someday, your brain will figure out how to either make your wishes come true or make them less important. You will add and take things off this list all the time. Your wishes will change with time, but wishing makes life interesting.

Wants (Post 37)

If you want to start your own ten cent crazy book - read post 1-4 to find out how

Let's talk about the "Wants" list, in your ten cent crazy book.

A want list should be a list of material things that you would love to have.

Your list might look like:

A New House
Shoes
A purse
Lap Top computer
Television
Flowers
Shopping on Ebay or any store you love
Eyeglasses
An Oil Change
A Puppy
Cashew Chicken

The point is to think about these things.
You should have a picture in your mind of your perfect house, you may never have it, but dreaming is what makes a want list worth the time. Look up homes and get the picture perfect idea.
As for shoes or a purse, think of the style, the color, the brand, cut out pictures. You're dreaming, dream big.
As for Lap Top Computers, and Television, think of size and brand and how they will be so great.
As for flowers, I'm talking about landscaping for the yard and my dream of the perfect yard. You may not have a yard and remember, your "Want" list won't be the same as mine.
I love to shop on ebay, but limit myself as we all do to things we need, not things we want.
I want new eyeglasses even though I don't need them.
I want to make time to get my car worked on.
I want a puppy and can picture what kind, but we have a cat that would not make room for a dog, but I can still dream about it.
And as for the cashew chicken, I love it and want an order all to myself.
Ok, why make a want list.
When you make a want list and look at it over and over, your brain does strange things to help you get, what you want. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but someday, your brain will figure out how to obtain your wants. You will add and take things off this list all the time. Your wants will change with time, but dreaming makes life worth living.

Good Thoughts (Post 36)

If you want to start your own ten cent crazy book - read post 1-4 to find out how

It's always nice to start your day with "Good Thoughts". Here's a few of my favorites to add to you ten cent crazy book

1. Every day, you get to start over.

We decide whether to be happy or not.

Happy people are friendlier, more productive, more patient, healthier, likeable, better friends, more creative, better co-workers, generous, better citizens, helpful, interested in others, and lighthearted.

2. You are the only you, that ever was or ever will be.

Like yourself

3. Learn not to have guilt.

If you do the best you can, every day, with the knowledge you have at that moment and something goes wrong, don't feel guilty. You did the best you could. No one could have done more, and no one can ask or expect more from you.

4. Respect others.

They have the right to believe whatever they want.

5. Dream Big!

A New Project (Post 35)

If you want to start your own ten cent crazy book - read post 1-4 to find out how

Ok, here's a good project idea to write down in your ten cent crazy book.

Are you snowed in and need something to do? How about building a puzzle? When's the last time you built a puzzle?

If you have a card table, that you can leave set up, that's great, but if not measure the table you want to use and then buy your puzzle. Be sure you pick out a picture of something you just love. One thousand pieces or larger are the best because they will take a while to finish. If you can't find a puzzle that you just love at the store, there are many web sites that sell puzzles and you're sure to find something you like. They have all shapes and sizes, so if you want to build your puzzle on the coffee table and leave it there to admire, you can find something that will fit on any table. Puzzles are fun to build over and over but some people like to glue them together and hang them on the wall. I've never done this, but if I were going to try, I think I would try gluing it to a sheet of wax paper (this will take 4 or 5 hours to dry) and then you would have to figure out how to hang it, or maybe you could frame it and then hang it. Anyway, puzzle building is something fun to do and anyone can do it. If friends drop by, they love to help.

If you want to start your own ten cent crazy book - read post 1-4 to find out how

OK, so you want to know something about Mardi Gras. Here's a list of facts for your ten cent crazy book.

Mardi Gras actually means "Fat Tuesday".

"Fat Tuesday" is the last big feast before (Lent) the forty days before Easter.

In New Orleans, Mardi Gras celebrations are centered on the neighborhood known as the French Quarter.

King Cakes are large, round cinnamon rolls covered with white icing and a popular Mardi Gras tradition. Hidden inside the cake is a plastic or metal baby. The person that gets the piece of cake with the baby inside, is said to be the King or Queen and have good luck for the next year, and is obligated to buy next year’s King Cake.

Mardi Gras colors are purple for justice, green for faith and gold for power.

People line the Mardi Gras parade routes, to catch prizes of gold coins, known as doubloons and strings of beads thrown by people riding on the floats.

These prizes can be kept for souvenirs or traded for merchandise in many New Orleans businesses

President's Day (Post 31)

If your want to start your own ten cent crazy book - read post 1-4 to find out how

Ok, do you want to wow someone with the things you know about President’s Day? Here are a few facts to add to your ten cent crazy book.

The third Monday in February is Washington's Birthday, even though it’s more commonly known as President’s Day.

It’s not Officially President’s Day!

The federal holiday celebrated on the third Monday in February is not officially called President’s Day. Instead, it is Washington's Birthday. There was an attempt in 1968 to officially name it President’s Day. However, this suggestion died in committee. Many states, however, choose to call their own celebration on this day "President’s Day."

Many people celebrated Washington's Birthday in the 17th century while George Washington was still alive. However, it wasn't until 1885 that Chester Arthur signed the bill that made it a federal holiday.

Even though many states celebrate Abraham Lincoln's birthday with Washington's birthday, it is not a federal holiday.

Traditionally, many celebrated and continue to celebrate Washington's Birthday with desserts made with cherries. Cherry pie, cherry cake, bread made with cherries or just a huge bowl of cherries are often enjoyed on this day. Of course, this relates to the story that Washington would not tell a lie when asked if he cut down a cherry tree.

One thing that many people connect with Presidents Day is sales. In the 1980s, stores began to use this holiday as a time to clear out their old stock to prepare for spring and summer.

On February 22nd of almost every year since 1888, Washington's Farewell Address has been read in the US Senate. While this does not happen on President’s Day, it is an annual celebration of Washington's Birthday that stems from 1862 when the Address was read as a way to boost morale during the Civil War. This address was and is so important because it warns of political factionalism, geographical sectionalism, and interference by foreign powers in the nation's affairs. Washington stressed the importance of national unity over sectional differences.

According to tradition, on the first day of the Chinese New Year families visit oldest family members,

Traditionally, tangerines, representing luck and prosperity and are the most popular fruit to hand out for the Chinese New Year.

According to legend, Buddha asked all the animals to meet him on Chinese New Year. When 12 came, he named a year after each animal, declaring that people born in that year would have some of that animal's personality.

The color red symbolizes fire, which according to legend, can drive away bad luck and evil spirits.

During Chinese New Year celebrations, Chinese people often paint lanterns with birds, animals, and flowers, to hang in temples, and carry to an evening parade under the light of the full moon.

Valentine's Day (Post 28)

If you want to start your own ten cent crazy book - read post 1-4 to find out how

OK, so maybe you want to impress someone with the facts you know about Valentine’s Day. Here’s a few for your ten cent crazy book.

The lovers' holiday, known as Valentine's Day, has its origins in the Pagan rite of Roman fertility, that dates back to the 4th century B.C. Young men drew from a box the names of young women, who became their companions.

Valentine was stoned, clubbed and beheaded because he began secretly marrying young lovers after Emperor Claudius II banned marriage in an attempt to attract more young men to the army.

The name Asterius is important to the Valentine's Day story because he was Valentine’s jailer, and legend has it that Asterious’ daughter's blindness was cured by Valentine. In a farewell note to her, Valentine wrote the message "From Your Valentine."

The Roman civilization introduced Valentine's Day cards. It was Roman men who first offered women written-wishes of affection.

The earliest surviving Valentine's Day card is by Charles, the Duke of Orleans who wrote a Valentine's Day card to his wife while imprisoned in the Tower of London.

There was a great increase in anonymous Valentine's Day cards -- particularly risqué ones -- in 18th-century England, when a reduction in postal rates made it affordable and fashionable.

Cupid, the cherub who totes love potion-dipped arrows, is son of Venus, goddess of love and beauty, and is always associated with Valentine's Day.

The letter X represents a kiss in Valentine's Day cards, but long ago, when many did not know how to write, an X or the sign of the cross was accepted as a sworn oath. Sincerity of the oath was often finalized with a kiss of the X

Jewelry (Post 27)

If you want to start a ten cent crazy book - read post 1-4 to find out how

If you're thinking about giving someone jewelry for Valentine's Day, here's a list of things to know about jewelry, to go into your ten cent crazy book.

Diamonds

Look at:
Cut, Clarity, Color and Carats

The better the cut the more it shines
Look for a diamond that's not cloudy
The less yellow the better the diamond, and or course carat is the weight

Pearls

Look at:

Luster, Nacre, cleanliness, size and shape
Luster means you don't want pearls to be cloudy, you want to see your reflection Nacre is the internal part
Cleanliness again means color and luster
Size, bigger is better (and more expensive) but only if the shape is round Potato shaped small pearls can be pretty and less expensive

Gold

Look at:

Karatage, gram weight, craftsmanship

Karatage means the purity of the gold - 24K is pure gold
Gram weight is how heavy it is, and Craftsmanship is how well it's made - is it a mold or hand crafted

A charm bracelet might be a great gift for her that can start with one charm and more charms can be added later.

A watch might be a great gift for him, but when dealing with watches, remember you're looking at two things, when it comes to price - The outside of the watch and the inside of the watch.

The outside will make a price difference on whether it's stainless steel, or 18k gold and whether or not it has diamonds.

The inside of the watch will make a price difference on whether the watch is quartz and takes a battery (less expensive) or if the watch is mechanical (more expensive) because it can have up to six hundred parts, put together by hand.
