Awkward (Post 103)
If you would like to start your own ten cent crazy book - read post 1-4 to find out how
Sometimes we attend an event, party or social gathering (especially during the holidays) where we end up next to someone (sometimes for hours) who we don't know.
Well here's a list for your ten cent crazy book of questions that you can ask anyone.
What is your earliest memory?
What's next in your life?
Do you have any regrets?
What has been the happiest or saddest point in your life?
Would you like to know anything about me?
What are you proudest of in your life?
Who has been the most important person in your life? Will you tell me about them?
Who has been the kindest person in your life?
Who was the biggest influence in your life? What did they teach you?
What's the most important thing you've ever learned?
Have you ever felt really alone?
How would you like to be remembered?
Any words of wisdom that you can pass on to me?
Some of these should at least get the conversation started.

Charm (Post 102)
If you would like to start your own ten cent crazy book - read post 1-4 to find out how
As you flutter, push or run through the holiday season this year - try to remember - that the most important thing to have - is not a gift - the most important for you to express or give to other is:
Charm
If you can become an expert at being charming - everyone will remember you - everyone will love you and everyone will always invite you to visit again
To have charm - you must have:
a sense of humor
insight - to be able to understand others feelings and express compassion
passion - truly enjoy the moment no matter how small
effortless social grace - (grace is truth, love, joy and faith)
have and be a role model
accept compliments gracefully
be a good sport
notice nuance (someone has gone to a lot of trouble to make things look and feel wonderful - notice even small things)
bone up (if you know what others like - know something about it - if not - have some interesting thoughts or stories to tell others)
Have an interest in others (remember charm says - it's not all about you and yours)
and finally
Have curiosity (ask questions)

Las Vegas Soup (Post 100)
If you would like to start your own ten cent crazy book - read post 1-4 to find out how
This is by far - the best soup I have ever had - my mother got the recipe from a chef in Las Vegas in 1995
I of course have made it easier to make - since I am not now and will never be a cook - but the taste did not suffer from dumbing down the recipe - for people like me who can't cook - I normally do not like soup - but everyone loves this soup
LAS VEGAS SOUP
Fry until well cooked
In large frying pan
3 tablespoons of butter
1 cup diced up frozen onions
2 stalks celery (diced)
1 cup diced up carrots (can buy precut carrots)
1 bag (3 oz) real bacon bits
then add
2 cans cream of potato soup
2 cans cream of broccoli soup
1 and a half cups of milk
When hot - ready to eat
Will be the consistency of chowder - add more milk if you prefer it thinner
Serve with or without crackers

Pardon Me (Post 99)
If you would like to start your own ten cent crazy book - read post 1-4 to find out how
Here's a fun fact to add to your ten cent crazy book - and to give you something interesting, to talk about during this years Thanksgiving gathering.
Did you know that 25 turkeys born every July are selected to go to a VIP barn? -
There - they go through a training of sorts -
Where they are handled and often tour schools - to get use to being around crowds -
Starting just two weeks before Thanksgiving - music that will be played during the Disneyland Thanksgiving Day parade is played in the barn - around the clock -
Then the two most obedient and handsome turkeys in the group are selected to attend the Pardoning Ceremony at the White House -
Why two? -
Well, always have a backup plan - or in this case - a backup turkey -
A few days before Thanksgiving - the two turkeys travel to Washington D.C. -
Where they stay at the Willard Inter Continental Hotel -
The day before Thanksgiving - the turkeys go to the White House -
The one used during the Pardoning Ceremony - gets an official Pardon -
The other gets an unofficial Pardon -
Normally
The turkeys then fly, first class to Disneyland in California -
Where one will ride with the Grand Marshal, in the Disneyland Thanksgiving Day Parade -
The turkeys then live the rest of their life at the Big Thunder Ranch in Disneyland's Frontierland.
This year however - The turkeys will go to George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate in Virginia - where they will be on display through the Christmas season and then live out the rest of their life in a field with Aladdin the camel.

Be Smart (Post 97)
If you would like to start your own ten cent crazy book - read post 1-4 to find out how
Unfortunately, when the holidays are upon us and even when they're not - it's a time to remember home safety - burglars are out there - so here's a list of safety tips to add to your ten cent crazy book - so that perhaps you will deter a thief
Be smart - people cleaning your carpets - painting your house - delivering appliances - working in your yard or neighborhood - could be checking out your home.
Let them in to use the restroom or phone and they could be unlocking a window or checking things out - so they know what they want and where it is.
Nice things in the yard means nicer things inside to take - put up your toys and tools.
Newspapers and mail piling up tells them no one is home
If you have an alarm - can they look through a window and see if it is set
Don't leave your doors unlocked - even if you're in a hurry or just going to be a few minutes
If there's a knock on the door, and a stranger wants directions or offers to do something around your house - be suspicious - they might have been - just checking to see if you were home
A thief will check your dresser drawers, bedside tables, under the mattress, the medicine cabinet and the freezer.
They almost never go into a child's room
If a safe is not bolted down - they will take it
When you're not home - leave on a TV or radio
