Diet and BMI (Post 6)

If you wish to start your own crazy book - read post 1-4 to find out how

Ok, it’s the beginning of a new year and some of you might want to add a diet and how to figure out your BMI (Body Mass Index) to your ten cent crazy book. As for diet, I’ve only ever been on one that I truly liked, it was no carbs, but I could have all the cheese and bacon that I wanted, and every day at lunch, I could have a taco salad consisting of meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato and all the sour cream that I wanted. As for a snack I could eat cool whip. Surprise, Surprise, I never lost any weight on this diet and was told that it was not at all healthy, but I truly liked this diet. As for BMI, yes, that’s the thing they do to kids in school now, so that they can tell even the skinniest kid that he’s overweight and needs to exercise more, but for those of you that want these things, here they are.

I recently read about a lady who lost over 100 pounds. She ate a bowl of wheat or oat cereal with milk, twice a day. She could eat all the fruit or veggies that she wanted. She ate chicken, turkey, steak and fish at meal time, and she ate nuts for a snack and drank water if thirsty. She took a multivitamin every day. She said this cured her high cholesterol, high blood pressure, acid reflex and sleep apnea, and this diet is said to be healthy.

As for figuring out your BMI

Measure your height in inches

Example: if you are 5ft 3in, that’s 63 inches tall

Multiply the inches by it self

Example: 63x63=3969

Now take your weight and divide by your answer

Example: If you weigh 120 pounds, divide 3969 into 120 or 120 divided by 3969 = 0.0302343

Now take this answer and multiply by 703

0.0302343x703=21.254712

Your BMI is 21

Your BMI should be 18.5 to 24.9, if higher then 24.9; “they” say you should see a doctor and lose weight.

My BMI does not fall into this range but I do not plan on seeing a doctor and as you know already, my favorite diet, does not work.

Any expert weight training person, will tell you that figuring your BMI without knowing how much muscle you have, doesn’t give you a true BMI number, but if figuring out your muscle is anything like figuring out your BMI, I don’t think I want to go that far. I think they have machines that you stand on at the gym, to figure out your muscle size. If I ever go to the gym, I’ll let you know.

  1. I tried to figure my BMI and it came to 16.7. That was lower than what you had stated. I know I am not underweight so I am wondering if I did it wrong or I'm wierd! I liked the weight watchers diet when I was young. I lost weight and could still eat things I liked. I'm to the point in life that I don't care if I'm a little overweight. So faar it is not affecting my health. Cigarettes are, and that is a whole different story.

  2. Man, mine was just the opposite, I figured mine and think I did it right and it was 33.4, so definitely overweight. I have tried dieting for the last 30 years and just keep gaining more and so many different diets. Bet you can guess who posted this.

  3. I have been on every diet possible in my lifetime and have been successful at almost all of them. So... that means that I have had several different appearances in my life. Now I'm to the point that this is it like me or not I'm not starving my self or having every muscle in my body aching from all that exhausting thing they call exercise. The health problems I have are not weight related. But I guess all the hype that is going on about BMI might produce healthy adults from the obese children of today.
