Jewelry - What you should Know (Post 282)

If you want to start a ten cent crazy book - read post 1-4 to find out how

If you're thinking about giving someone jewelry for Valentine's Day, here's a list of things to know about jewelry, to go into your ten cent crazy book.

Diamonds

Look at:
Cut, Clarity, Color and Carats

The better the cut the more it shines
Look for a diamond that's not cloudy
The less yellow the better the diamond, and or course carat is the weight

Pearls

Look at:

Luster, Nacre, cleanliness, size and shape
Luster means you don't want pearls to be cloudy, you want to see your reflection Nacre is the internal part
Cleanliness again means color and luster
Size, bigger is better (and more expensive) but only if the shape is round Potato shaped small pearls can be pretty and less expensive

Gold

Look at:

Karatage, gram weight, craftsmanship

Karatage means the purity of the gold - 24K is pure gold
Gram weight is how heavy it is, and Craftsmanship is how well it's made - is it a mold or hand crafted

A charm bracelet might be a great gift for her that can start with one charm and more charms can be added later.

A watch might be a great gift for him, but when dealing with watches, remember you're looking at two things, when it comes to price - The outside of the watch and the inside of the watch.

The outside will make a price difference on whether it's stainless steel, or 18k gold and whether or not it has diamonds.

The inside of the watch will make a price difference on whether the watch is quartz and takes a battery (less expensive) or if the watch is mechanical (more expensive) because it can have up to six hundred parts, put together by hand.
