Well, we all love getting a box of those little hearts with the printed messages on them for Valentine's Day - and we should love them - they've been a part of Valentine's Day all of our life. Here's some Sweetheart info for your ten cent crazy book.

NECCO - the (New England Confectionery Company) located in the Boston area, have been making - Sweethearts Conversation Hearts for more then 100 years.They are the oldest "continuously operating" candy company in the United States.

They make nearly 8 billion Sweethearts per year - about 100,000 pounds of hearts per day - and sell out in just six weeks time.

In 2010 they abandoned the classic pastel color formula and began making softer hearts with vivid colors and new flavors.

In the 1990's the company began to update some of the heart messages for young Americans and began to retire other outdated messages.

New sayings include:

"Soul Mate"
"Love Bug"
"Me + You"
